The Client

  • A Malaysian company specializing in premium honey and other local and international super food products.
  • Before our collaboration, they had never explored Google Ads. Their sales relied entirely on word-of-mouth and digital presence on social apps like WeChat, Viber, and Line.
  • The website was extremely basic, non-mobile-friendly, with a simple order form and direct links to messaging apps.
  • I met the owner back in 2017 during a trip to Southeast Asia, thanks to a mutual friend.

Starting Point

  • No structured paid advertising strategy in place.

Action Plan

1. Building Digital Assets – E-commerce & Landing Pages

At a networking event in Kuala Lumpur, nearby the Petronas Towers, the owner expressed the urgent need for an e-commerce platform. Although skeptical at first, I accepted the challenge and built a WordPress store powered by WooCommerce.
• Over 300 products were imported from an existing Excel file, optimized for the store.
• I used a premium Themeforest template and customized it to align with their brand identity.
• Several category-focused landing pages were developed, each integrated with product feeds from WooCommerce.
• A CRM was implemented to handle email marketing and customer data collection.

2. Paid Advertising Strategy

Once the digital infrastructure was ready, I moved on to designing the Google Ads strategy.
Brand Awareness: Leveraged YouTube and Gmail Ads, capitalizing on the popularity of video platforms in Southeast Asia.
Search & Display Campaigns: Structured by product category to identify top-performing items.
Remarketing: Set up segmented remarketing campaigns tailored to product types.
• Shopping Ads: With a robust budget, I implemented a Google Merchant feed and launched Shopping campaigns to drive conversions.

The strategy followed a two-step approach: first, driving qualified traffic, and second, optimizing for sustainable CPA.

The Results

The collaboration with the client was key—thanks to their contribution of creative materials, the campaigns performed exceptionally well.

• Ad Spend: ~€7,000 per month.
• CPO: Averaged at just €1.76.
• Gross Revenue: €451,002 in 12 months.
• Conversions: Over 40,000 orders generated.

Moreover, within the first year, the company expanded its sales reach to Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the UAE, achieving its long-standing goal of entering new markets.
